The Dial60th.com Flash home page that I programmed and co-designed with Propaganda Inc. won prestigious AIGA recognition in the Experience Design category. My Nitro Circus and Thrillbillies web sites got local Addys last night. ThrillbilliesTrailer.com got two golds and Nitro Circus got a silver. I was really proud of my design team. They received silver medals for The Dreaded Grove and The Golden Compass Invitation and we got a Gold for Edge Eyewear. Thats a total of 3 golds and 3 silvers!. Our small interactive design group at Richter7 is kickin'!

Just finished a pretty cool Flash project. I did the Flash interaction design and programming for the main page of Dial60th.com. It uses my Flash 3d engine and I designed the sound with the help of the talented guys at Metropolis, which really makes the experience come alive. It's the first national project I have worked on.

This viral greeting was created for BD Medical to promote usage of one of their catheters. It was specifically targeted to nurses. I really enjoyed concepting, writing, designing, and programming this storybook. I got some help on the writing from David Rathbun and Nate Smith did some of the programming. I had just about given up on finding a Wii when on a whim I stopped at a ShopKo (I never go there) and they actually had some. My kids spent the first evening making Mii's. I was amazed at sense of realism in driving a golf ball, hitting a baseball, and bowling. Nintendo did a great job. My 4-year-old found it totally intuitive. It is a fine piece of language agnostic user interface design.

The good: Just like the old Halos but high resolution and noticeably smarter and more numerous enemies. Really really awesome. Not that violent - should be T rated - my kids play it with me.The bad: The menus are poorly designed - almost like they user tested the game really well, but nobody bothered to test the menus. Just got CS3 in the mail and installed it in Vista and it is awesome. They have really improved the user interface of Flash, Photoshop, and Illustrator. They are all very alike now and easier to use. Flash CS3 is worth the upgrade cost alone. The palettes can be turned into a osX style dock of icons that collapse on the edge of the screen when not being used. The tools pallette can now be shown

We just launched our latest web site. This site was designed to promote Newpark Resort, which is a condo rental community and modern town center near Kimball Junction in Park City. Saturday night's ADDY Awards went very well for Richter7. We won awards for 13 clients (the next nearest agencies tied with 5 each). We won 12 golds (the next nearest agencies tied with 8 each). We won 40 silvers (the next nearest agency received 21). And we received a total of 52 awards (the next nearest received 24 total). I got Gears of War for XBox 360 and it is awesome. The character design, level design, and lighting effects are amazing. The controls are very intuitive. I'm about half way through it so far and it's getting really tough - but so am I - heh, heh.

I decided to chuck my PDA "smartphone" and go back to a Franklin planner. I also chucked my Treo 650 and got a cheap flipphone off of eBay for $40. I finally got by Xbox 360. Holy cow. It's awesome. I have Burnout Revenge and the detail and sense of realism is staggering. You can see cars way off in the distance where before they were just jumbles of pixels. My hdtv displays the games at 1080i. Wow. Wow. Wow. I'll never be happy playing a first gen game again.

Did you know that there is an Apple Store here in Utah? I just found out. It is over in the Gateway and it opened on November 19th. My Mac is now also my TV - and my video game console - and a DVR. This new product from elgato.com costs only $150 and lets you connect a tv antenna, svideo, or RCA media jacks to your Mac. It also functions as a DVR - sort of. You can't pause live tv, but you can schedule recordings and your Mac will automatically turn on and record them.

I just finished watching The Apprentice on DVD and it was not only entertaining, but very good instruction on how to be a leader and a model employee. I played this for the first time today and it is amazing. I have never seen such realistic effects in a video game. I have a new subscription to GameFly and it's my first game. There is a new film about Joseph Smith playing in the Joseph Smith Memorial Building Legacy Theater in Salt Lake City. It paints a very good portrait not only of Joseph Smith, but his wife Emma and the other early leaders of the church. Hmm - I don't like their new logo. I guess Quark, Inc. is trying to redefine itself. To me, it's a little too late. We had a long day today. We drove to Fayette and got pictures of the Peter Whitmer Farm where The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was organized in 1830. I spent the day taking tours of the Smith cabin and frame home and in the sacred grove today in the pouring rain. Is was very peaceful and I was all alone because of the rain. I took lots of pictures (see, above) and I had a chance to feel the spirit of the place. I feel a love and an appreciation for Joseph and his family. It is inspiring to be where the last dispensation was started.

Well I am here and we had a good day of shooting. The light wasn't the best but we took lots of pictures of the Smith log home and the Smith frame home and the surrounding areas. We have yet to enter the Sacred Grove. I discovered lobster bisque at Flahtery's. We also had an awesome burger Wards followed by a large bowl of ice cream.
